Actually, pirates tended to wear eye patches not because they were missing an eye, but to have that eye adapt to darkness so they can see at night. Can’t speak for all pirates on that one, but it was the general reason for it.
Inkwell also had a battle scar that rendered one of her eyes impaired.
This issue cannot come soon enough.
