The other three princesses sent Twilight through the portal, because Sunset Shimmer had stolen the Element of Magic, which left Equestria without one of its most powerful weapons and threatened the fate of the EqG universe. And yes, I know we don’t give a flying fickle finger of fate about what happens to the EqG universe; I’m just relating the reasoning used in the movie.
