Im sorry, Appledash fans, but this is how Rainbow Dashs relationship with Applejack has been implied since season 1. Rainbow Dash thinks Applejack is really dependable in a tight situation, but is annoyed by her the rest of the time. They arent compatible opposites like Fluttershy is to Rainbow Dash. Shes been acting accepting, but distant to Applejack and closer to Fluttershy as season 2 and 3 passed.

The reason Rainbowdust wouldn’t work is because Lightning Dust is a sociopath who’s more interested in winning than in not killing bystanders.

AJ is such a practical and stubborn pony, she can drive people nuts if she won’t change ehr mind about something. This was clear in “Applebuck Season”, “Bridle Gossip” and “The Last Roundup”
People only excuse her stubborness because of the time when she’s actually good natured and mature. But in all fairness, AJ can be intolerable if the situation applies.
I think it’s meant to show how ridiculous the other one sounds. Switching the names around without changing anything else leaves it making as much sense or more.
