@SquiggyBomb
That quote also sounds like something Pinkie would say.
Too long.
Did Read. :D
See, I don’t buy into the whole “well, what you expect from a weekly series” sort of deal, because they certainly aren’t using those lighthours to add more work into the animation, and having just a bit more sense of working on the plot before you go into the awesome looking fights (which are actually rare, if you count minutes) so that your pacing was just a bit better you could just do what must shows do, but in a smaller budget and in a shorter scale, of course. Hell, it’s not even a matter of “make a super epic with most amazing writers here” but for bloody sake, get an episode structure in place and try to vary it just so the effects you want are present.
Or stop making the chapters so bloody short. If anything, a short run with longer chapters and more work put into each of those chapters sounds like a better proposition, because you can then use the hype from the superior product to kickstart, or whatever, into more episodes and continue your story.
It’s just terribly disheartening seeing something that could be so fucking great being mediocre and closing in on bad just because of something as simple as “make sure shit happens in interesting ways”.
Monty Oum is a great choreographer, and a decent animator, but he is no director.
And despite all of this, I am optimistic, but it’s a bit hard keeping it up when everything about it seems to be pointing to a thud midseason ending.
Yup
The series was directed by Monty Oum, right?
I understand the pacing problem But it’s a weekly series. And HOLY SHIT you can tell it was animated on a budget. But there is still a lot in RWBY that has yet to be explored. So I’m optimistic.
I really wish that show had better writers in its midst. There is a sort of ghost of potential, where this could go on to be very big, but whoever is writing it has the same awareness of pacing as a tortoise stuck underneath a bus. I won’t go into the animation argument that starts every time you try to talk about RWBY, mostly because I personally find the animation to be adequate and having a sort of unique feel to it, but the writing… oh god, the writing…
Yay!
Modified a bit but yes.
Ten points to you!!
Is that a quote from RWBY?

In fact, I shouldn’t even be talking to you!
