He was surprisingly, quite the celebraty (even appearing in the olympics, Coke commercials, and on Sesame Street) back then.
Funny thing is, I never heard of him until a few years ago. They should make an actual CGI-version of him voiced by Matt Frewer, but it’d probably be hard to pull that off live.
Gullibility is timeless.
That’s kinda the point, he was supposed to look like a fake CGI-rendered human. Ironically, the ‘80s didn’t have CGI/3D graphics that good yet.
I heard some people back then, really thought he was an actual A.I., or something. lol
It’s pretty ironic because Max’s actor, Matt Frewer, looks nothing like him in real life!
Yeah, you have a point. Plus that was probably considered quite shocking back in the ’80s.
Nice touch humming “Clutch Cargo” to. (Which was also a weird-ass show.)
i gotta disagree with you the spanking at the end is a nice touch to the bit of insanity. like a shot of whiskey after a long day. it just fits
Let me fix that link for you. I remember seeing that on Youtube before. That was a pretty good public-trolling, but the ending with the fly-swatter was kinda creepy.
“I stole CBS!”
Adding a bit, he started out in a failed British sci-fi pilot. The character was salvaged for use in the talk show, the popularity of which led to the pilot being remade in America and running for two half-seasons. The actor was Matt Frewer, whose disembodied head also appeared on computer screens in “Lawnmower Man 2” and the failed live-action “X-Men” pilot.
A character from the ‘80s who was referred to as the “World’s first computer-generated TV host,” except he was actually a guy in heavy makeup because computer graphics weren’t advanced enough at the time for him to actually be computer-generated.
A character from the ’80s that was popular before we were all born (or in some cases just babies) basically, google it, or look him up on Youtube. Some of his remarks are amusing.
