In FoE: Heroes there’s some backstory about the pre-war ponies TRYING to develop a time travel megaspell. It didn’t work because in the show when Pinkie said “you can go back once, and it only lasts for a few moments”, she really meant it. Time travel was a once-in-all-of-history kind of a deal.
 
Makes things even more tragic for Twilight, since she did not only bear part of the responsibility for the war and its byproducts, but she also threw away the biggest trump card they had (even bigger than the EoH) and the one thing that could have brought everyone back to life.

Yeah. Even though it was started before It’s About Time, I felt that Twilight would have attempted something like this in Fo:E.

“NOW am I from the distant future in the middle of an epic pony war?!”  
“No, I’m from next Tuesday again. Don’t make this STUPID armor. Nearly killed me. You. Us.”
