Aye, but if you think about it those two were never truly “reformed”. It looked like they did at the end of Boast Busters, but as soon as Trixie returned in Magic Duel they supported her immediately until she took care of them. I guess they are like two mischievous dorks that make perfect henchmen. Perhaps they might be used again by some other female villain.
And then another.
And another…
If you ask me, they just like to stick around “alluring” females.
And yet they made Snips and Snails into the bad guy’s henchmen.
I believe it would be quite awkward to turn Trixie into a sort of antagonist again, after her supposed “reformation” (pony or not). Although, yes, that would make for a much more interesting plotline.
Then they wouldn’t do the whole redeemtion scene which was only to make little girls buy her toys and actually give him a decent defeat.

I think he would have charmed Trixie into winning the crown for him.
If Sunset had been a male, the whole story wouldn’t have revolved around the prom and the title of prom queen. I wonder how the movie would be like.
The whole point they made her female is so that the target audience can identify with her. That goes for both characters, but Sunset Shimmer would have probably not had that great of implications if she were male.
Trixie wouldn’t change at all if she was a male. Athough her popuarity might been smaller.
If sunset been a male she might been a better villain.
Trixie wad planned to be a stallion and got changed in the eleventh hour. Exactly the same character, though.
