TL;DR, even nowadays this wouldn’t be considered excessive res by any means and afaik images aren’t that much higher res now than six years ago, either

They aren’t even made often now, unfortunately
A lot are like 1000 x 1000.. pretty pathetic
The resolution in this really isn’t enough considering everything like a lot of characters in the far distance.. even with my phone, let alone my computer

I do wish more images were made at least 2000 x 2000 even for the basic nothing in the distance ones.. and 4000 x 4000 for ones like this.. and upscaling only works so well
Also, this is probably a 4:2:0 subsampling jpeg.. so the chroma has a quarter the resolution of the luma.. does it make a big difference? Probably not.. but could be significant.. also, based on the file size, it’s probably pretty compressed
Nah, I think it’s mainly mid-range colors that make the difference.. so probably not
