I’ll answer a couple of questions here.
 
You find people disliking hetero shipping in our fandom because it seems that a majority of the hetero ships are kinda boring and one-dimensional. That’s because a majority of the stallions in the show have one-dimensional personalities. The only ship that doesn’t apply to this logic is Sparity, which you see tons of people love. femslash, especially between the Mane 6, leads to more interesting dynamics than hetero ships can.
 
The reason why there’s more crossover hetero shipping is because the characters that are being crossed over have more fleshed out and deeper characteristics. People get curious to see how those characters would work with the Mane 6. A majority of the time, they tend to be male characters.

if your trying to say “regular straight characters” then you must be talking about the male stallions, alright then here what I think. the reason is that artist like to experiment they’re art skill or show they’re favorite characters doing a crossover with my mlp fim cause they feel like. for now that’s all I can explain and say since I don’t know what artist do with they’re art im only here to admire the arts of others so i’ll let someone else answer your question.

So the reason that there’s so many lesbians couples is because there aren’t many stallions? Okay that’s easy to understand but what about the crossover shipping then?
 
I always notice more crossover shipping with male straight characters kissing sometimes anthros ponies or other stuff like that. so my question is why is there so many straight crossover shipping then regular straight couples?

Less males = less plausible straight pairings. Other than that it’s usually the “Het is ew” mentality that many new slash fans acquire.

It’s a staple of all fandoms to ship everyone with everyone. Doesn’t matter if the characters are the same gender or not, somebody will ship it.
 
But I find that good. Such vast numbers of pairings can generate a lot of awesome stories, art, and so on

People like to ship characters with developed personalities that have had a lot of airtime. 95% of characters in this show that fit that criteria are female.
