I was giving additional information. There is a difference between “phoenix is an exception to normal pets” and “normal pets are talked to even by non-Earth ponies”.
And I even pointed out in my post that it could have nothing to do with Earth Pony powers. Why was it necessary for you to point out the same?
While that is true, that could very well have been a case of a pet owner talking to her pet. Rarity talks to Opal, Applejack talks to Winona, and pretty much everypony talks to Angel.
Earth Pony powers involve farming and communing with animals.
Princesses don’t tend to do either, though I should point out that A Bird In the Hoof had Celestia talking with a phoenix (though no word on whether or not phoenixes are exceptions).
Interestingly enough, we’ve yet to see either Princess use her supposed Earth Pony powers.

Earth ponies have a special connection to the Earth that makes them the only ones capable of caring for plants and animals. Fluttershy is an extremely unusual exception and her nerves when it comes to flight and heights could be explained by her connection to the Earth. I explained this through genetics (she has the genetics for Earth Pony magic, something few Unicorn or Pegasi have because it would overload them), but I’m not going to explain it here. Just look here:
