I can’t see Rainbow Dash being the leading character. With Twilight, even when she is in the spotlight, it’s still about learning/teaching about friendship, so focus on the others is a given. With Rainbow Dash… now that would end up too self indulgent.

Twilight is praised as a messaih for the school, a school she’s NOT EVEN A STUDENT OF, and a ‘princess’, just because all her human friends didn’t have the brains to just say what their problems were, and abandon their friendship at the drop of the hat. HOW CONVENIANT.

Still, Twilight is a terrible central character for a kids show. She teaches kids that:  
-Murder is okay if they haven’t been alive for a full day and don’t notice you killing them until you do.  
-it’s okay to lie to your friends, belittle them and in general bully them, so long as you were trying to teach them a lesson.  
-Don’t ever clean up your own mess because your little brother will clean it up anyway.  
-If it’s hard, it’s okay to turn into a madman and scare children.  
-Mindrape is okay.  
-If it turns out your suspicions were correct, nobody cares about how you came to that conclusion.  
-Safety is for chumps. Caution, super-chumps.  
-If you complain about something and someone else shares your opinion, you must be right.  
-The scientific method is lame.

Of course we all know it’s really “The Fluttershy and Friends Half-Hour”
