While this comic was wholesome, it bothered me that Twilight didn’t pick it up when her hooves were already in the dirt. Then again, I suppose this is her princess/germaphobe showing.

There is very little or nothing specifically pony about this comic. I mean, it’s generally funny, and often cute, but you could replace every pony character (and Spike!) with humans, and almost nothing would change. All the OCs have human names anyway.

Frankly, if you have to explain how your setting works after 1,205 comics, you have failed at creating the setting. Don’t talk down to the readers because it’s not their fault.
If you want to do a low magic setting, maybe don’t base it on a fantasy series about magical ponies because people will go in with preconceptions.

Before everyone whines about using magic, this was posted on Twitter explaining what so many people can’t seem to figure out by now.

Before everyone whines about using magic, this was posted on Twitter explaining what so many people can’t seem to figure out by now.
“Magic isn’t used in AT&F practically at all except for basic things. It’s very different then in the show. We’ve tried to make that clear to people. So no teleporting for example. Magic also exerts energy and strength. So at least in AT&F, if they can’t lift a 500lb dumbell, they won’t be lifting it with magic either.”
