Oh yeah awesome 👌
Best part? With Luster Dawn as their daughter, they have a near-perfect triadic color scheme when put together :D

Yeah. I think they shot themselves in the foot with the 30 second full redemption montage at the tail of an already busy episode. I don’t know if they wanted to do that or if it was forced on them, but it put them in a rough spot writing that character. Her story was done before it even started, and you can definitely see where they had to force her into episodes: sometimes she was just not there, sometimes she had to be Twilight’s confidant, sometimes Twilight’s pupil, sometimes the team mom, and sometimes she was just sort of there in the background. It’s like they never ultimately found a place for her, and so just randomly assigned roles to her that could have more naturally gone to other established characters because now they were stuck with her. Even her befriending Trixie, which was the most interesting thing they did with her, still had to be about Twilight with Trixie only befriending Starlight to fuck with her, when they could have just had them befriend each other without either of them even knowing Twilight was part of that equation. I think it would have been so much easier if they didn’t redeem Starlight from the outset, and instead treated her as a villainous member of the team who slowly becomes a good guy: think like Dinobot from Beast Wars, Peridot from Steven Universe, Varrick from Legend of Korra, or a more charitable Eric Cartman from South Park. Villains becoming good through their interactions with the heroes is one of my favorite kinds of character, and them skipping that with Starlight and just flipping her switch from evil to good is part of why I dislike her so much XD

lol Imagine Sunburst doing the cliche “Watch my magic wand disappear” and surprising Trixie by actually doing it and refusing to explain how.
I’d say even the showrunners understood that to a degree; Starlight’s interactions with Trixie are far more natural than interactions with Sunburst. Starlight and Sunburst do interact like two childhood friends with a one-sided devotion who’ve kind of awkwardly drifted apart in the meantime, and Starlight and Trixie interact like two adults who’ve largely settled into their adult personalities and have much more in common.

Imagine Sunburst trying to be kinky in a magic trick themed way, and Trixie being turned on but also trying not to laugh XD
Nope, and I never will :P

Honestly, I think it’s bad form to put Starlight with with Sunburst. Think about it: her character arc is basically that of an incel: she lashes out at the world because she felt obligated to have someone she didn’t get, and then learned to be better. If she gets Sunburst in the end, it basically completely undermines and negates her entire fall to villainy and journey back to good by rewarding her with the very thing she felt obligated to have in the first place. It’d be like if in Megamind, they had Roxanne become Tighten’s girlfriend in the end. If she doesn’t get him, it shows that she’s grown beyond the petty thing that made her lash out in the first place :P
So Trixie is a better shipper for Sunburst and not Sunburst? I see. I respect your opinion.
Now draw Starlight playing matchmaker. (I don’t think you’ve ever drawn Starlight.)
Oh absolutely, I still love that cute little scene where Trixie and Sunburst showed each other magic tricks, and very clearly respected each other.

They have a good vibe, when you think about it. They’re both smart characters with weak magic, a competitive edge, and an interest in stage magic. But Sunburst is a book-smart sheltered introverted nice guy, while Trixie is a street-smart swashbuckling extroverted jackass. Sunburst would probably be attracted to Trixie’s adventurous and devil-may-care life, while Trixie would probably be attracted to Sunburst’s stable and reliable life :P
And she also has a father, who appeared on the show, but not in the comics.
