It follows on from my entry for a writing competition in which a griffon, Guy, becomes the dictator of Griffonstone.
In order to seize power Guy the relies on help from Equestria, but once he’s in power he doesn’t like them having influence so while they’re having trouble with changelings he invites some of the ones who got expelled from Canterlot into Griffonstone, to keep Equestria’s spies busy tracking down Changelings rather than subverting his regime. He also paralyses the regions disloyal to him by sending the changelings there. Only guy and a couple of other griffons know about this.
As an aspiring military theorist in the new Griffonstone Gina is worried about how on-paper changelings are extremely dangerous and cant understand why they keep losing. After she stumbles into the three-way changeling situation in the country by making a lucky guess she's allowed to form a government committee for trying to get rid of all the changelings.
Because she thinks changelings are so powerful it doesn’t take long for a changelings to intrigue her and she allows herself to be fascinated by them and starts working with to help them take over the committee. They give her an artefact that changelings can't use (>>3373783) and she provides the changelings with dossiers on the other committee members to make it easy for them to imitate the griffons who get replaced, even herself (this image) and lures her friends into traps so they can be replaced. (>>3441084) The eventual goal comes from when she makes the conclusion that there would be no more powerful army than mind controlled griffons led by changelings (>>3440716) but this gets complicated when the main hive gets Thorax'd, and it goes into the story of the character Genevieve.
