But he just reeks of this feeling of humiliation. The artists are yelling so much about AI that it’s like they’ve already replaced their entire family, spat in their face, and robbed them of all their money. I have no sympathy for artists who whine about AI like little children.
It’s just that artists have started to feel fierce competition in the market and their drawings won’t impress people or potential buyers that much. If art is a person’s personal self-expression, but they burn out when they see how the neural network generates something better than them, and their customers simply disappear and use a much simpler and less financially expensive resource.
People are still not ready to accept their non-exclusivity.
By the way, although AI is popular now, artists are still interested in customers who are willing to buy from them. I’m just so sick of this snotty and hypocritical whining.

I love AI, but the art is nice.

And the problem is not how good the technology is, the problem is how bad the people are…

Yeah pretty much, things will only get worse from here.

I use a lot of AI. Not only for the pics I upload here, but also at work. I’m a programmer. I mean, half my job was looking up stuff on Stackoverflow anyway. These days I just prompt an AI, give it access to my current code and 90% of the time I get a working resolution. I know in a couple of years, my job will probably be only checking code done by AI before implementing it. Since the invention of the steam engine, there always was a job that was overtaken by a machine. This time it just it creatives. But I want to make one thing very clear, at the moment, AI manages at best, passable results. Some are better, most are not. Most pics I upload have hours of editing in it. And that’s what will probably be the job for most creatives in traditional media in the near future (TV, Comic etc). Corporates want to push out more content and AI enables that. You will be an editor for AI images and only a “true” artist if you’re really outstanding. Same for programmers and some other fields. Have you guys seen Sora?

Consent? Yeah, I remember giving consent that anyone can look at my art for free as soon as I post it on the Internet.

It does exactly the same thing as human artists do. It sees the art that was already made and learns from it.

If it’s not going away, then there needs to be some regulation.

Saying “No AI” is like saying “No computers”. They can easily be used to make bad things but they themselves are just technology that have a thousand and one uses.

I agree. Let’s go back to using stone tools and domesticated animals for tilling the ground.
