I don’t think we’ve ever gotten a lore explanation on exactly what CBTwi’s deal is, but my theory is she’s been touched/marked by a Windigo, or is part one. Cold-associated spirits, feed on hatred, and so she needs friendship and the literal/metaphorical ‘warmth’ of companionship to drive off its influence. Makes sense how she’s extremely cold-associated, hates the heat, etc.

Or it’s what lets him pull the ice out and the dragonfire keeps him from getting frosted. Could be either.
I think this is the only page where we actually see frost build on Spike, which melts off when he’s set down. There’s a few times we see the arm things glow, always when he’s touching Twi and pulling the cold out.

Oh, you poor mare. I do wonder how she was raised she seems to view friendship like a contracted deal like a villain would and only see value in it if it’s mutually beneficial.
In this world I can see how something like that thought process could be the norm, but it’s probably not healthy to view others like that.

She’s, like, got some succubus stuff going on or something. I’m not super clear either. It seems like she needs or wants “heat” and can and wants to pull it from her targets in some way. It literally manifests as an icy sensation and is presumably something harmful to her subject.
And it seems Spike is able to pull the “cold” out of her. Something with the wrist-things and probably dragonfire stuff.
