i love the idea that monsters can pursue you even through closed windows
In the game they actually can .
Though , they can only break windows and shoot through them , but not walk through them .
That is just a story mode constraint , mappers can do whatever they want with windows and their collisions .
If you are lucky enough , you can get nightmare on mansion in random run .

One thing that could help the game work even more, would be to have less frequent encounters with monsters
Golden Rogue are planed to be like this .
Well , i’m not promising anything , since i’m just a tester … but PekpyT (D’lirium creator) wants to make Rogue less “run and shoot” and more “progress a story and sometimes shoot” .

i love the idea that monsters can pursue you even through closed windows, or tear away at drywall for that matter. Just makes the ambiance more unpredictable and immersive.
Like, if you just get up for a drink without Pausing, your game status could be in peril. And the audio / sound effects in each level – the vocals and faint background shrieks – would not just be for style, but cue you in on ever-present danger you might not even see just yet.
One thing that could help the game work even more, would be to have less frequent encounters with monsters. But when they do show up, they hunt you down unrelentingly, plotting the most efficient way(s) to get to you, with those uncanny movements at an unchanging pace. No pausing or pacing back & forth on the other end of a bridge or winding passage, too.

And also , +1 for using glows that are actually game accurate .
Like , it is such a clever idea to use the ominous glow of Nightmares eyes in the window . And Ada’s various (spell dependent) horn glows .
