Really, you have to ask? It goes with Twilight’s coronation dress, duh! Since fun and fashion are the only things that matter now, Twilight’s got to go through the mirror after it. Then she’ll get to go shopping with dopplegangers of her friends, talk about cute boys and do makeovers, complain about how hard math class is and make fun of stick-in-the-mud Cherry Lane in English, and win Dreamy Cutebottom’s affection once she becomes Princess of the Fall Festival. It’ll just be so much fun!

Well if the synopsis of this is 100% accurate then there goes my theory that it was someone else who stole the crown ( like “Brad’s” pony counterpart ).
 
On a side note you know how Hasbro, and cast and crew at DHX have said several times that “Twilight will not be leave her friends”, and “Twilight will stay in Ponyville”. I hope they don’t find a loop hole so they can do that.
 
For example since this world has a version of her friends in it, if she decides to stay in the “other world” she technically would not be “leaving her friends”, and if the town that this school is in is called Ponyville then technically she would not be “leaving Ponyville” either.

But the Element of Magic didn’t change when Twilight ascended. Therefore, the crown, which looks different to the Element of Magic, is just a crown. Also, why is it stored in the most distant province of Equestria, which also happens to be a place that she only ever visits instead of living in, instead of, oh I don’t know, a locked trunk in the basement of the treehouse library thingy that she lives in?

I think this is their way of telling us that it is the element of magic. Or that they stick magic gems on their easily stolen headwear like idiots.

Just a question. Why is the crown so important? It’s just a lump of gold and jewels. There’s no reason for it to be so important. Hell, it’s not even the real Element of Magic, it’s just a crown in the shape of it. So why is it so important?

Keep your pants on, everybody. It’s nothing we didn’t already know or at least strongly suspect. Though I am amused by the idea that Twilight Sparkle has to settle for being Princess of the Fall Formal. I guess Hasbro’s anti-queen bias even includes homecoming and prom queens.

Some of these details (that it is actually Twi’s crown that is stolen, the school is Canterlot High, and using the name Sunset Shimmer) were likely easily guessed by the first trailer, but this is confirmation.
