Misty is a black-coded pony, just to clarify (she has hair associated with black people in MYM and TYT, including 'Afro Puffs' in a TYT episode), so she is black to me. One could say 'they're ponies' however they have human IQ and cultures similar to ours, they're meant to be relatable to various audiences (of which there are black people and many more) to brighten people's days and teach kindness etc. For example, we notice AppleJack has a certain accent, or Rarity uses e.g. French words, there are cowboy ponies and sheriffs, and ponies in hijabs, and many more. MLP always was a reflection of our world people feel safe in, and happy with. ^^ Thus, considering everyone wants to be represented in franchises they love, and for justice, I see Misty as black. I'd too if it wasn't canon (e.g. hair example) tbh, but canon gives us some things and I refer to them and base my comments on them.
