You don’t try to be friendly with an active shooter. Misty and Sunny had plenty of time to reason with Opaline before going to the dragon island. She didn’t spat on friendship, she spat on their poor attempt to care for her.

Better that she doesn’t. Despite all her abolished efforts ruling Equestria, she was still proven to being quite an untrustworthy obstacle, moreso heartless than anypony could’ve ever bargained for. It’s better for Opaline having her Decepticon anklets hanged up anyway.

Well, if Misty and Sunny couldn’t convince her then who? Who would be the one to reform her? Herself? It’s not like she was going to go “Oh, my b. Totally shouldn’t have been evil. Sorry guys.” She definitely made her choice.

I’m sorry, but I think you should look deeper and not just look at Opaline as the evil eye.
Try to see and understand each character from different angles and put yourself in that character’s place.
Then you will see what the world and the truth really are

Opaline has become crunchy many times in her life.
After thousands of years of solitude, she met Misty, but Misty also left her.
Misty said we were not friends.
And then she started expressing sympathy? I don’t think this is the right way.
As for Sunny, she offered friendship, but when Opaline was in a difficult situation, she abandoned her.
It makes sense that Opaline refused their request.
Words should match actions.
Opaline needs to taste love, not just hear it.

There is something else
Opaline was at the height of her power and great power makes a big impact.
It can be said that it captures our power.
Maybe if Opaline finds herself in a difficult situation, she will realize that her actions were bad.

To be fair, both Sunny and Misty tried to offer her friendship and she downright refused (or thought hypnosis equals friendship). She had a villain song where she talks about how evil she is. I don’t think she wanted.
I imagine Misty would distance herself far away from Opaline if she was reformed.
