Hmm… I believe people really started hating Capcom for their business practices when Keiji Inafune left/was fired and he badmouthed them.
Then it was the whole Megaman fiasco which continues to this day: Legends 3, Megaman Universe, that apparently terrible iOS game that was done for the anniversary, & Bad-Boxart Megamn in Street Fighter X Tekken. For now it only looks like the Megaman comic from Archie is the only love allowed for the IP by them.
And then it was the crossover games: Marvel Vs Capcom 3 vanilla, then the updated version that came out like 5 months later, SFXT and the refusal to allow certain characters on certain consoles without hacking, etc.
A big point of contention is the On-Disk “DLC” which people think should be avaliable to those who own the disk (and that fact that the only “downloadable” part of it is the key to unlock the content) and their refusal to stop this practice.
With Ace Attorney, it seems like Capcom soon lost what little love it had ouside of Japan. First Apollo Justice was released in Europe BEFORE Trials & Tribulations (different reasons for that), their indignant response to the meddling they did on AJ (Phoenix wasn’t even originally in it), releaseing AAI1 only in Japan & America, refusing to release AAI2 & PLXAA outside Japan, & now AA5-DD being digital only (which makes the excuses about AAI2 not being localized being bullshit now).
So… yeah. There’s more (Resident Evil 5 & 6, DMC: Devil May Cry to name a few), but those are the big ones. There’s a reason people are calling them Crapcom & EA ver 2.
No I meant when did they start being dicks for no reason to begin with.
I said “again” because I forgot.
They stopped for a while? Last I heard, either the PS3 or 360 version of Street Fighter X Tekken still didn’t have access to Bad Art Megaman & Pacman despite being on the disk.
And their On-Disk DLC practices have always been shit.

Does your debit card link to your checking or savings. You can use it on the eShop if it links to checking. I own such a debit card and it worked fine.

Oh, yeah. The game that got the most advertising was the first one, since it got that “Best of E3” award. All of the games since have rarely gotten any ad buzz from Capcom.
To this day, I’ve never seen a magazine ad or online ad for any Ace Attorney game.
Again, like Zero Escape. I only heard about 999 from TV Tropes of all places, thought it sounded interesting from the description and lucked out as the nearest Gamestop to my house was the the one with the only copy in 100 miles.
The sequels of both series, I had to actively hunt down info on. No real ad push anywhere whatsoever.
Christ almighty, when did Capcom decide to start being dicks for no reason again?
That’s a bit shocking.I wasn’t aware they weren’t well advertised.I even played every one of those games a bit after release day (the DS ports, not the GBA ones) and I thought it wasn’t lacking in the advertising department.
i have a nitendo eshop account (because i change my region from peru to usa) and money!
the problem is that I DON’T HAVE WAY TO OBTAIN CREDIT FOR MY ACCOUNT! because 3ds crads don’t exist here and it only accepts credit cards, not debit.
What? Oh, no. I’m not saying it’s justified. That was just Capcom’s B.S. excuse. I’m pissed about it being digital only, just like I’m pissed they essentially said “screw it” to AAI2 & PLXAA.
Don’t have a Nintendo eShop account or something? I only have one cuz I wanted the original Kid Icarus to prepare for Uprising personally.
I don’t care if is acutally justified, digital only means i don’t have way to play it :(
@Amber
The reason they gave for Dual Destiny’s digital only release is that they did indeed blame low sales on lack of retailer support. This is why the only the first Miles Edgeworth game was released in America (and no where else other than Japan), the second has yet to be touched at all outside of massively delayed fan translation projects, and why the Layton X Ace Attorney game is in limbo for the West.
This is in the face of the undeniable fact that in the West, the Ace Attorney series has NEVER gotten barebones advertising pushes at best. Capcom thinks we would rather get ads for the new Devil May Cry or Resident Evil, for example.
Really, just like the Zero Escape games that came later (999 & Virtue’s Last Reward), the games really only became known through good word of mouth. So while I can get the game, I’m gonna be screwed if my 3DS gets lost or broken, because after I replace it, I’ve gotta buy the game all over again.
FFS Capcom.
I doubt it.Ace Attorney is one of the most popular and best selling Capcom franchises nowadays.
I think is more like saving themselves the costs of making cartridges.
Understandable, but still doesn’t make me happy * Holds her PS1 games tightly *
Aren’t they doing that because the physical copies of the previous games got poor sales?
Dunno about Maya, but Pearl can be seen in one of the trailers in one of the many screens showing scenes from the game.
YES!
oh yeah that shit i swear capcom of the U.S are a bunch of ass hats.
aww man need to capdown a little.
