Discovery handles distribution rights for G4, not G5. This means if G5 wants to make G4 references they need to ask for permission to Discovery and Hasbro. Regardless of what Hasbro wants Discovery must also be on board, fee or not fee.
Imagine this, G4 has two "parents": Hasbro and Discovery. G5 has Hasbro as a parent but ithey'res not Discovery's "son" so the family reunion is strained to say the least.
