Inspector Mare: OKAY, not what I expected….guess that throws that theory out the window…
Rebel Mare: But…that would mean that the magic lantern was sucking up ALL the energy from the Princess’ devices after the crash in a desperate move to regain its original capacitance!

Inspector Mare: OOOOOHHHH, why didn’t this Marestream magically pop out an instructions manual on how to use the lantern??!!!!

Pipp did mention that if her devices really were draining the magic lantern, the batteries on those devices should’ve gone slightly up rather than drain more quickly than usual. And here, once they were unplugged, the lantern suddenly started fading even more.
It is only now that I think I figured out what has Izzy so confused here. Whatever was happening to the lantern, it was actually draining power from Pipp’s devices, meaning that having those devices plugged in was only slowing down the effect of whatever outside force was draining the energy from the lantern. And even if those devices had been left plugged in, their batteries were already so low that the effect would not have lasted for much longer anyway.
