I was mentioning that adolescent dragons, spike, garble and smolder are bipedal, the dragons that we see the green and red dragons, by the looks of them are greed consumed, since we’ve seen spike become something of the like. True the green dragon wouldn’t stand upright in a cave since it wasn’t as big as the red dragons cave, walk out of it cause it was taller. Greed dragons (depending on the situation) can be bipedal, or quadrupedal when it comes to it. As for their hands and claws, it depends on the dragon, not much lore has been written for the dragons.
As for the G5 it can be just lazy writing and design. That and so children see dragons as a more ‘cuddly’ pony than ‘fierce’ beast. Course those are my thoughts

The adult dragons have full HANDS, not hooves or nubs. They have fully defined digits. This leads to them being able to use tools, emote, etc if need be, and again, the ONE G4 dragon we saw RUNNING was chasing SPIKE, a VERY small target who was earthbound. Said dragon was also trying to kill him by biting him, which meant standing upright would be clumsy to go after said target.
Again, it’s more of a movement option and not the actual casual stance of dragons as a whole. Having hooves with nubs is not what dragons have.
And that’s not even getting into the other biological problems the G5 “dragons” have.

By the look of it in the show, dragons are bipedal at a young age adolescent-teen. At adult age they become more quadrupedal, yet will walk on hind legs if need be. So by the looks of it, it’s an age thing. With the exception of the greed growth, as we can see the full teen spike compared to the pre-early teen garble.

It depends on the dragon, like dragon lord Torch, or if you look at the original Spyro series the dragons were bipedal, yet Spyro was quadruped. So it depends, on the dragon and I guess animators and artists too. Some do one, some do both. Spike looks like he can be bipedal due to his body, yet can be quadrupedal at the same time
