If the comics are not canon, this means this is the first canonical apperance of a Gen 4 character in Gen 5, not counting holograms, paintings fantasies, and memories.

If Spike hears the name “Twilight Sparkle”, it will bring back memories of his surrogate mother. Many years have passed too. Would love to hear Spike’s reaction when the new episodes release.
Many years down the line and dragonlords can rule for a long time too, too bad we were hoping it’s Dragonlord Ember and Spike is her husband. Lore wise, my comment would say this is correct, there’s no way Ember would just give up her Bloodstone Scepter and allow Spike to rule it. But now even Spike don’t have the Bloodstone Scepter in his hands.
