I feel like Cheerimac is different to something like Stormblazer ‘cause Hearts and Hooves Day is all about how Big Mac and Cheerilee don’t actually like each other romantically and are only love poisoned into doing so. Like if that ship has a ‘fake dating to falling in love’ trope, it was worked out exclusively by the fans. I don’t blame Marblemac fans if they were pissed when their ship was sunk, though, Big Mac and Marble Mac did legitimately like each other.

But, to be fair, I’m coming from a place of bias—I didn’t ship Big Mac with anyone before Sugar Belle came along, so I could actually get into Sugarmac when the show went for it.

That’s exactly what’s happen. Hitch is a single dad in charge of six children. Primrose doesn’t even exist anywhere anymore (unfortunately).

Again, the whole reason for someone to watch a show shouldn’t be because they solely want characters to be involved romantically. Ships are not everything a show is about. This is not one of those love triangle anime.

Honestly? I feel like, if the writers really want to remain impartial about shipping, then they should leave Hitch single, I mean, yeah, It would be a little disappointing, but it would be unbiased at the end of the day. Now, Adding another character to be the love interest…there’s where we have a problem.

I always found that “let’s create a character to be the love interest to sink every ship and not please anyone” trope to be really counter-productive, Not only because it makes a lot of people upset, But because most of the time it’s really evident when a character is created with that purpose, That’s why I didn’t like Primrose to begin with, Because she only appeared and said “Oh yeah i’m so in love with Hitch” and that’s all, Of course I know it’s a game and that’s just a silly side quest that isn’t even canon, But if something like this gets to happened in the show, it would still be unpleasant, Because It would feel like “Oh, So you’re basically saying this amazing chemistry Hitch and Zipp had actually was just a joke with no payoff?” Yes, you can say “Don’t be silly, They would need development” The thing about that is, That there is a thing about that kind of romance, if certain characters really had the potential (and got some nice shipping fuel like this case) to be a great couple, you can’t just make people forget about the show they have been watching this whole time, we have some great examples for this, Like Mordecai ending up with a random girl a the end of Regular Show, and even in mlp with Sugarmac sinking both Cheerimac and and Marblemac. Writers and directors can try to justify those writing decisions but it will always be obvious that those were taken rather arbitrarily and not because they were in the best for the plot.

Yeah exactly. I don’t think any of the ship baiting is done with malicious intent, it’s probably trolling at worst and inspiring shippers to have fun at best.

I wouldn’t be opposed to Primrose coming into the show and ending up with Hitch, actually, though I would like to see some development if it ever happened beforehand. All Primrose has going for her right now is that she’s shy and cute. She’d need to really develop and develop her relationship with Hitch to really compete with all his other options, who have interacted with him far more extensively.

I guess their intent wouldn’t be as malicious as I worded it. Well, certainly not as much as crazy shippers that get angry over every interaction shared between characters that are not their designated pairing. I’d say they’re not exactly baiting anything, but give everyone a piece of meat for them to be satisfied. I can see creators trying to appease to everybody because they know at least one person is into one ship. It’s just that it’s impossible to please everyone.

With that said: Yes! Primrose should return as the canon one for Hitch! She actually shows feelings toward him and she is such a adorable love interest for him!

Yes, I’m a shipper too, but I only ship because I want the characters to be happy. :V

Izzyscout is a different breed. Sunny and Izzy had clear connection since the movie and it doesn’t involve my boy Hitch constantly being told who to be together with like nothing but a prize to win.

Tell that to Izzy x Sunny fans lol. Some Stormblazer fans probably don’t even buy that.

I need to make this clear, ‘cause like, it’s very clear that y’all are getting offended at my terminology; when I say ‘ship-baiting’, I literally mean like, baiting a ship. Giving moments and content to make the shippers go wild and crazy. I’m not saying it’s actually hinting at the ship happening. I also don’t think that the writers are gonna pair Hitch up with anyone (though they could. Just because Tell Your Tale is 5 minutes long doesn’t mean they can’t do romance. Like, we literally found out Alphahaven was canon IN a Tell Your Tale episode.) And, if they did, it’d more likely happen if they ever brought Primrose from A Maretime Bay Day Adventure into the show, aka. the only girl Hitch has canonically shown interest in.

I, also, just think they’re trolling with a lot of their ship-baiting, but I don’t think it’s because the writers have a problem with shipping the way y’all do lol. But rather to show that they’re aware of fandom and how it works, and/or just to give content that’s bound to get a shipper’s mind to act up, without actually acting out on any of it.

Honestly I think in a way that’s less “baiting” and more “trolling”, like it’s the writers’ way of telling fans to stop going so overboard with shipping and just relax. They clearly only wanted the main cast to be friends and that’s their way of saying “Yes, Hitch is just their friend.” Regarding A Day in The Life, can’t a friend just care for another friend when they’re sick? Does that have to be a couple thing? Honestly Hitch still feels more like a caring father than a boyfriend to me in that scene. Caring about others isn’t just a romance thing y’know.

And I wouldn’t mind to be proven wrong. That means MYM will continue and that’s a good thing. I like TYT but I don’t expect actual romance to happen in a 5-minute episode series.

Exactly, maybe we really should accept Hitch’s relationship with the girls is just platonic. I mean we can still ship them for fun and headcanon, but we should stop with the debate over “canon ships” or “endgame ships”.

I think having this kind of mentality is exactly the problem with these types of shippers though. There is no canon “hinting” for Stormblazer. They are friends, just like Pipp said. Being a popular ship/liked by fans is not the same as a show actively teasing it. This is not a show with romance elements.

Hitch is the show’s shot at f/m friendship representation, which is sorely lacking in children’s media. The sooner people realize that, the less fights we’ll see because nobody will actually expect a ship to be canon.

I mean, there’s definitely instances where ship baiting can be kind of blatant. Like in G5’s case, you got that joke in The Jinxie Games, the last few minutes in A Day in The Life, even Zipp and Izzy have received some in Tell Your Tale.

I never really see writers making certain characters interact with each other as ship baiting. They probably never even think about shipping and are just like “Oh, those characters haven’t interacted before. Let’s do it.” I think people are just too obsessed with shipping and trying their best to reach.

Now, I completely understand the frustration of shipping something and canon sinking it out of the blue; it’s happened to me just about every time. What I find dumb is getting so triggered over minor moments between Hitch and Misty as if that ship baiting hasn’t been commonplace and hasn’t been done a lot more egregiously with other Hitch ships that STILL haven’t sunk Stormblazer.

Like, your ship is still the most hinted at and the most popular, y’all can chill a little bit.

I’m a big Stormblazer fan too, But honestly, I can’t blame the fans for being scared/angry about Hitch x Misty, of course, I dont want to justify toxic behavior or anything, but as someone who likes to ship stuff expecting them to be canon most of the time, I can see where that concern comes from. (this will be a little long, so I already apologize about that)

Stormblazer has become a really big ship in the fandom, It started with very little interest when the movie came out, but after chapter 1, 2 and some tell your tale episodes came out a lot of people realized their potential, I loved the ship since the movie and I was really happy too see the fanbase grow.

Being a ship that a lot of people want to happen and makes sense in the plot, It’s easy to understand why they would feel upset about another ship suddenly appearing and pop the bubble. I personally felt that before during G4 when Cheerimac getting sunked by Sugarmac despite having hints in previous episodes or Dislestia having a moment during season 4 finale only to be forgotten after that, Stuff like this happened in other shows I was into, Like The Lion Guard, Where the main character ended up with a character in the very last episodes, which felt rushed and forced and sunk another ship that made more sense.

What I’m trying to say, It’s really annoying when a show/movie baits you with stuff like this, and it’s even more annoying when people come and defend those flaws and saying “no, you’re just angry because your ship it’s not canon and ours is”. I don’t support toxic behavior as I say earlier, but I do sgree with people asking for respect as viewers and wanting storyline to be consistent
