yes there is a parallel with many of them, the point is that this art is very obviously about pairing hitch and flutter due to their element, so going “erm i dont believe that” is a stupid thing to post

I’ve got the definite answer;
Hitch is Hitch. Misty is Misty. Fluttershy is Fluttershy. Applejack is Applejack.

However, I agree with the background pony. Apart from the element of Kindness and talking to animals, Hitch is closer to Applejack. I also see traits of Twilight Sparkle in him too, with the whole dragon dad (which is another big part of his character) mirroring Twilight and Spike and his need for order and rules mirroring Twilight’s OCD symptoms.

Misty blatantly is where most of the Fluttershy influences are placed. She even has a butterfly cutie mark for fucks sake. However I also see traits of Starlight Glimmer in her, with her being an “antagonist” (although to me Misty was never truly a villain, just a victim of circumstance) that fooled other ponies by using a fake cutie mark and also a lack of cutie mark helping her lead to committing unsavory actions. Plus the element of Empathy is shared with Sunset Shimmer.

If we think about it, it’s almost like the G5 characters are more fusions than they are direct copies of the G4 characters. But anyway, in the end they’re different characters with different back stories. Not sure why we’re getting so worked up about this. Anyway let Background Pony #3294 have his opinion.
