I love how both franchises (in case of Filly, it’s a sub series called Ice Unicorn) have similar concepts. Skates on hooves, fun! I feel like they’d be friends. Wonder what that new character is about, hyped lots~

Another thing at play is psychology. For example, people love their favourite project and some time later they learn it is not the only one that exists, that more projects receive merchandise and even lore, even a cartoon (which isn’t what happens with most of brands, meaning any owners are very serious if they develop a cartoon based on their property). It might feel just like what The Little Prince of Saint-Exupéry felt: ‘my rose is just one of many!’ (after that he basically came to realizing what exactly makes someone/something unique), but different people work differently, some might be just sad, others would feel something else. I believe this ‘something else’ coupled with not knowing details about who actually sued whom and why, or how a brand is, produced the rumour of Filly being a case of ‘plagiarism’ when it’s not, and people who like MLP being displeased with brand - although it’s a valid project too. Many projects are valid, unless it’s something that goes against universal morals and is created on sole purpose to hurt someone, instead of entertaining, inspiring and getting money. Filly fans never come with hate, they just want recognition that their fave brand is as legit and valid, and is art too, it’s simple. Because otherwise they’re hurt, like any person on Earth, because they love something, and love provokes to research and understand.

If I’m to dive deep into thinking about life - any creativity cannot exist without copying to some degree, whether it is based on what happens in reality or fiction created previously. That is because creativity is a process happening inside person’s mind, and mind is limited like the rest of body. That is why any new ficional ‘species’ is necessarily a mix of something from the past. ‘unique’ means not one single trait or a detail, but a combination of them, whatever they may be. That’s how MLP, Filly or anything else is unique. I would say bootlegs are unique too in this thinking, however, there’s big difference from being developed anew and taking images without owners expressing if they agree or not. Dracco decided to develop their creations carefully, and Filly actually has lore - which ‘just’ toy brands usually do not have. That is because Filly got magazines and books as early as ~2009+. There’s difference between being honest and creative and between being a thief, which Simba realized later, thus coming to creation of Safiras and Lissy Pony. Now, My Little Pony is a very old brand and people might know it - especially here - much more than any other brand, but it is not the first colourful magic horse. Around ~40 years prior, Disney made Fantasia and had flying colourful magic horses. But they didn’t object to creation of My Little Pony, since it was developed carefully, like Dracco developed Filly. Hasbro didn’t object to Filly as well. ‘Rip-off’, ‘plagiarism’, ‘copy’ and other terms and words seem not fully educated to me, otherwise we should call each cartoon about cats or, say, dragons, a copy. There’s inspiration, taking tropes that are in free domain, and MLP was one of first popular media horses but later ‘unicorn’ and ‘colourful magic horse’ became ‘generic’ and free to take. Hasbro know law and principles of brand creation and creativity, that’s why I feel they aren’t bothered. Otherwise they’d have to go after any colourful horse blindly, because it is colourful horse, and spend a bunch of money suing people who didn’t break law. Like W.I.T.C.H. (Disney’s) owners almost sued Winx, that would be a shame XD.

Still, Draco and Simba are among those companies that mostly tryhard to copy other companies. Moreover, they have such great financial problems that they were unable to release one season + several promised mini films/special episodes on time… they had to divide one season into two and nothing has been known about the special episodes for years.
Their products have not been available in stores in most countries for years… There used to be only blind bags and a warehouse available, and now there is literally nothing.
There is a lot more information about Hasbro’s fight with this company than on Wikipedia, but I’m not here to look for links for anyone. If someone wants to learn more, it’s best to look for it yourself, although some of the articles are not even in English.
Offtopic but Filly literally call their “fillies” ponies and use the famous MLP phrase “everypony”… So

Oh, it’s Simba’s own toys that bootleg MLP since G1 and 1990s. Dracco that own Filly instead developed toy molds and characters from scratch, it’s different haha, even the Wikipedia article itself say it is.
Filly still comes out, as Classic toy line (https://kiddisvit.ua/catalog/figurka-filly-serii-blestyashhie-babochki), as multiple Funtasia toys, as German magazine (Egmont) and as a cartoon. Hasbro are not bothered.
As for Simba… some time after losing deal with Dracco, they made flocked dragons with crowns and ‘gemstones’ (Filly inspired) and now they’re onto Lissy Pony deal with Blue Ocean which is totally original horse molds and characters. Evolution!

Yes, they have a similar concepts, because after all, Filly is nothing more than a ripoff of G3 😜

A Very Minty Christmas (2005)
Before someone says that Filly is not a ripoff - YES it is, not without reason Hasbro has sued them many times and won.
