Because no matter how narcissistic she is, her positive and funny character makes her more interesting. Being 100% bad or 100% good makes a character boring.

Rugged situations with Misty doing counterproductive responsibilities sure take their toll on anypony’s wellbeing. As protectors of Misty’s reputation, everypony will continue looking after her, keeping themselves safely fortified until the grand finale for chapter six, and therefore, closing the whole book on Opaline’s powerful reign.
not really depleted, just parts of her being so lonely in the room that opaline put her in, and acting like misty never existed when she isn’t using her, and other memories of her being forced to do tasks that a filly normally can’t be doing, like ordering her to clean dishes, even utensils that would cut her, so yeah it’s so disheartening if opaline was using her like the narcissist that is.
No worries, happens every so often. And while we’re on the subject, there’s so much going on through Misty’s inner thoughts, considering her depleted memories from fillyhood, thanks to Opaline.
