You know this kind of stuff happened to as well back in the earlier days of Disney with Treasure Planet. Same thing pretty much happened. CEO's changing in mid production and the new CEO not really caring about the prior's plans and just wanting to do their own thing. Even if it causes loss and damage to their brand. I wouldn't be surprised it the new CEO was a bean counter at some point.
Also why would Hasbro choose Atomic? Simple... money. Apparently there is some huge tax incentives for producing stuff out of Canada and guess where Atomic is based?
