Okay, now I understand that, haha. Honestly, having MyM be more easily accessible would be a very good thing, in my honest opinion. I would love it if somehow Netflix could work out a distribution agreement with Hasbro to allow past seasons of MyM to go to some of those free ad-supported streamers. Especially since Netflix doesn’t operate an AVOD service of their own.
In regards to point one, I realize I should have been more specific - when I said streaming services, I exclusively had the ad-supported streaming services in mind from the beginning.
Naturally I am not going to respond to every single topic in this way-too-long comment, but I will respond to a few topics:
Yeah, G2 only lasted for 2 years(!) in North America, though it did see a bit more success in Europe, going an additional 3 years there.
Eh, I doubt MYM or ANG would go to competing SVOD services (since that’s the space Netflix competes in) - I have no way of knowing this, but I bet there’s a stipulation in the contracts to be marked as “Netflix Originals”, that Netflix is the only SVOD service they can be on.
Pretty sure last time Cartoon Network had a hasbro show. They barely advertised it and played it super early in the day.
Pretty much the only time i watched fim on tv was when the uk played an episode early
@Eragor14
Generations refer to the toy lines not the show. G2 didn’t have a show
Edited
I think it would be pretty neat if the Make your Mark series got added to other streaming services myself. Netflix is getting quite expensive as of late (they currently raised the prices and dropped the $10 ad-free membership) so it would be nice to have other ways of watching those older seasons. Maybe Paramount Plus here in the US? Or possibly a service like Hulu or Disney+?
No, I get that; I’m just doing the same (calling it like I see it)
Well, it doesn’t feel like a true new generation, either. And I don’t think I have ever heard Hasbro themselves classify Pony Life as ‘G4.5’.
G5 can’t be reclassified as G4.5, because that’s what “Pony Life” is.
I wouldn’t say that is all that difficult to do, though. Yes, I know Discovery Family hasn’t left the US, and for that reason it is possible Hasbro could have switched networks if they wanted to release G5 on broadcast television (Cartoon Network might be a good option, especially since they have a few sister channels outside the US that would make syndication a bit easier).
I wouldn’t say discovery family would have been better as it still hasn’t left the us.
Fim Had to be licensed to so many different channels
I had a feeling you’d show up. But yeah, putting it on regular TV channels would be their best bet for MYM to gain more traction. I feel bad for G5. It started with a grand movie and after that, a lot of things just went… problematic. G5 is trying it’s best tbh. I understand you love G5 to death, but this is just how I see it how it’s been so far.
MYM just hasn’t been renewed (that we know of), it’s possible for that to change in the future, especially since MYM was actually pretty close to TYT in terms of success, and that was mostly when MYM was on that lengthy hiatus between Chapters 3 & 4.
Yeah, in hindsight I think giving it that Netflix exclusivity doomed it. Ironically I think it would have fared better if it were a Discovery Family series much like FiM was. Then again, the future of Discovery Family as a channel is also very much up in the air following the Warner Bros-Discovery merger. So chances are, that wouldn’t have been a viable option, either.
Tell Your Tale (the side show) will continue on in 2024 because Hasbro said it was the more successful show. Nothing has been said of Make Your Mark’s (the main show) future. The Netflix exclusivity being the main problem for it.
Wait, really?
