I’m confused, so there’s a new species of pony that are called “Paint ponies”, so it implies that Volette so one of them just a descendant. Yet it was said that she has vitiligo. Does that mean all paint ponies have vitiligo? Or maybe Violette is just a special case and happens to look like one because of her coat.

Probably not “extinct” but unique genetic character submerged into the mix of monocoat ponies.
In relation to the actual show, we didn’t see actual horse markings until people like Sunburst and even G5 has only added belly markings. Even though the very first horse art, cave painting done by actual cavemen, showed small shaggy horses with face and belly markings.
Yes. My Little Pony G0.1 was 10000 years ago.
