I used to be friends with a trans woman and a distinct memory was in April 2022. I was talking her through a breakdown even as I scratched my head about why she was having a breakdown over her accidentally wearing jeans in public.

Krickis’ words described what I think even now about the situation, but my then-friend pointed out that it was a dysphoria issue, not an identity issue, so I was out of line for voicing my beliefs on the identity aspect.

Cis girls don’t need as many intentional gender signifiers because they’re not trying to overcome other ones. As a trans woman I find is offensive.  
People who take the label and put no effort into it is a gross appropriation of the trans community.
 
Don’t get me wrong, you can be who you are. But if you’re going to use a label , you better own it not wear it.

I have a problem with the delivery.

A lot of bad faith people here, and there’s no way I’m waking into this minefield of an agreement. But since some of y’all seem legitimately confused what the point of this phrase is, allow me to explain.
 
I’m a trans woman. When I get all pretty in skirts and blouses, put on makeup, do my hair, I’m a woman. When I wear men’s jeans (they’re more comfortable, and I grew up wearing them), men’s t-shirts (same as the jeans, plus a lot more options in designs), go out without doing my hair or makeup or anything, I’m still a woman. That’s what we mean by not owing anyone feminity, I’m a woman all day every day, even when I don’t look like one or have the energy to present as one.
 
Plus like, the type of people in this thread are probably never gonna get this and crucify me for it, but fuck it I might as well give a full rundown. I’ve known trans women who just go for a neutral style, not overly masculine or feminine, but they still feel like a woman. Why do cis women get to be neutral or even masculine and yet trans women are expected to always be feminine? Because yeah, even people who claim to support me as a woman have made comments about me not getting dolled up, but no one cares when my (cisgender) wife dresses more neutral/masculine.
 
So there you go. Because you people in this thread are proving this is an important message that needs to be discussed, I’m trying to explain it. I don’t have high hopes, but maybe someone actually listens instead of complaining what those damn queer folk are doing now.
