This is a statue of Jan Kiepura, a tenor singer from Sosnowiec, who became successful overseas. The caption near the date says “In his heart he was a Sosnowiec citizen, but in his voice he was a global citizen”, or to put it better, “He was the voice of the world, but his heart belongs to Sosnowiec”. Behind the statue there’s a meat shop.
