Horses aren’t completely color blind. They see two base colors compared to humans’ three. RD has enough color to always look different from DD.

Using a color picker, mostly. For digital stuff, at least. On traditional… trusting the labels aren’t lying, I guess.

Sometimes I wonder how do colorblind people paint pictures like this. Because that would be pretty cool.

Actually that would make Fluttershy think Daring Do looks like Rainbow Dash as they’d both be lacking color in their manes, but since Daring Do looks like Rainbow Dash and RD boasts about her rainbow mane and tail, Flutters likely thinks Daring Do has a rainbow colored maned like Dash cause she can’t see color. And likely making it make sense that Dash is so obsessed with Daring Do, because they both have Rainbow Colored manes in Fluttershy’s eyes. This is a rather cute and interesting headcannon. Must make identifying background ponies hard…but that just could be due to how shy and socially awkward Fluttershy is. This has some fun layers to it!
