I think that is something that drew me to like Rarity. For someone who really values their beauty and by extension, their hair, giving that up… especially at that length since hair takes a LONG TIME to grow back out again… that is quite the sacrifice and is quite generous, because her long tail wouldn’t regain such a length overnight (or at least as far as Rarity knew at the time).
