Oh I know they are terrible. But consider the Butterfly Island toyline in g3. It was a whole bunch of Pegasus ponies as it was a toyline to promote pegasi, and any other ponies released in that toyline are tropical themed. There were 2 episodes just about pegasi and the tropical Butterfly Island location. And this lasted for about a year. And that’s not considered a generation. They had the dvds/vhs Friends are Never Far Away and Dancing in the Clouds and a web game to promote the Butterfly Island theme. It’s not a gen still despite having It’s own media

Fair enough, but then it is unique among the specific toy lines that it got its own animated content (instead of it being incorporated into whatever generation was going on at the time).
Yeah. It’s technically not a generation. It’s g3.5 and a specific toyline with webisodes. No other themed toylines have gotten called their own generation.
G2 would have nothing to show. There were no shows or movies
Does this mean that Tales is G1.5?
G2 actually got a video game. And speaking of G5, G5 is actually not just part of G4 but uses elements, facets, cameos and Easter Eggs of G4. Think back at how in the world of the Transformers, Beast Wars and Beast Machines is not part of G1 but uses elements, facets, cameos and Easter Eggs of G1 even they’re not direct sequels to either the G1 cartoon or G1 Marvel Comics.
Nope. But G2 only includes a video game.
& G3.5 is still part of G3.
& Pony Life is still part of G4.
& technically speaking, G5 is part of G4.
So the exclusion of MLP Tales is still baffling.
Because Tales is still part of G1.
