Still, as grown man on the internet, I might still interpret that in the worst way possible.
Which I can also understand. We men who are looking for an extended masculinity certainly don’t always have an easy time asserting ourselves in certain situations or genres. Therefore, such a thing strikes us certainly in the first moment relatively negative.
But in my opinion, the modern man must neither be ashamed of certain things, nor justify themselves and certainly we do not have to be ashamed of our masculinity. We are ashamed because masculinity is still seen as something relatively negative.
Rightly so, if you take the history of mankind so far as a basis. But in order to build a future that is as positive as possible for everyone, we have to allow certain things, not distance ourselves from everything, and also become aware that masculinity can be something positive.
And, here at least my opinion, Hitch is so far at least actually a relatively good role model. Certainly not perfect, but I like him a lot and so far I haven’t seen anything that could convince me that he couldn’t be a good “daddy.” ;-)

I think the hooficure would look better if it was green (like his mane) rather than blue.

@Wolfcho
That doesn’t make it any better.

Honestly I wasn’t too serious with my comment and I don’t actually have a problem with this scene, but I wonder how they intended for that phrase to be interpreted. I think it’s just generally trying to convey the idea that “nail polishes can be cool too.” or just a simple funny line they wanted to use. I know Hitch can be a show off sometimes so it makes sense for him to say something like this. I also like the idea that Hitch doesn’t think of nail polish as something “weak” or “girly” and he fully embraces it as something he can be proud of. That’s why I love him so much.

Well, on the one hand he has a point (after all, he’s an adoptive father now), and on the other hand I’m glad that the show dares to display that kind of humor at all. I can understand you, though. It requires a certain foresight and circumspection not to misunderstand the phrase as such. I think it depends a lot on a person’s character. And how much one has had bad experiences with toxic masculinity.
Nevertheless, and this is my opinion: I think the scene is good, precisely because it works on a certain meta-level. Hitch is a versatile character who combines strengths and weaknesses. Just as men should be allowed to be. Look at it closely: Cool pose. Strong line. Painted hooves. Just the kind of masculinity that’s basically good.
Okay, you could really say, though, that maybe they could have used a different, not-quite-as-misleading tagline. But maybe the whole thing wouldn’t work so well then.
As I said, that’s just my opinion. If it bothers you and other Hitch fans, then I won’t say anything about it. I just wanted to point out what I like about this scene. I hope I could make myself reasonably understandable ;-)

I can’t believe they actually made Hitch say who’s your daddy. That will definitely spark something in some Hitch fans, including me.
