This. I can remember that in Simcity Societies, there were BP sponsored wind turbines. B “Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill” P sponsored wind turbines

When they enable mod support, someone might as well add a 4chan building which turns the city into a utopia, because fuck realism, we have advertisers to satisfy

@Beau Skunky
I’m guessing it’s because this particular “ad” seems to have no downsides other than taking up space and people assume that EA will make similar products where the advertised buildings will have little to no downsides.

McDonald’s causes obesity? Not in SimCity! Wal-Mart affects smaller businesses? SimCity makes them perpetual happy machines!

I don’t get why people are getting so bent over a measly ad. Video games have ads in them for years. Sega’s “Dynamite Dux” had KFC ads. “TMNT2: The Arcade Game” (the NES version) had Pizza Hut logo ads on walls, Wave Race 64 had Kawasaki ads, (removed in the VC rerelease) and many sports games have ads in the background, and such, and nobody ever complains about those.

And don’t forget all the “real life” items in “Pikmin 2.”

Just when I thought EA couldn’t go any lower than charging $60 for a glorified tech demo for the GlassBox engine considering the shit AI makes it barely playable, spending a week fucking around with the servers on release to get more time to reel in suckers despite the fact that EA easily had more than enough resources to buy enough servers for all of their loyal pre-ordering drones, and completely lying about how requiring a constant Internet connection is for computing on their servers and not just another one of their half-assed DRM schemes, we get a fucking advertisement that runs on magic and farts happiness and sunshine everywhere.

Why does anyone with two brain cells to rub together buy games from these people?
