The rock farm seems farther south that the G5 map covers. It might not even exist given how the south seems to have been replaced with ocean.

The term you are thinking of is a “soft reboot”. What that means is that “yeah it’s in the same continuity but we won’t reference what happened before”.

As for Beast Wars, I haven’t seen the series in many years now (I may change that one day and watch it again on some streaming service) and was just going by what I remembered.

Well, Beast Wars is not a direct sequel to any G1 media because Beast Wars have some elements and facets from G1.

Even before that reveal, BW was a sequel in the first episode established they time traveled and how the outcome of G1 let to the villains motivations that started the conflict.

However, G5 has yet to establish that causal link (what caused the changes between G4 and present).

G5 is a sequel AND a reboot; sequel in it’s the same continuity, reboot in it’s a new cast and enough has changed it’s effectively a new setting.

Beast Wars wasn’t a reboot, it was a sequel to G1 where the descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons (the Maximals and Predicons) end up on a strange planet which in a plot twist later ends up being Earth in the time of the dinosaur (they ended up going back in time). They even encounter their ancestors in status at some point. This isn’t even just some Easter egg or something, a major part of the plot becomes Megaton trying change the future.

I probably don’t need to the spoiler warnings for a nearly 30 year old show but I’ll give people the courtesy.

So that means that G5 really is a reboot. It’s just a different incarnation with G4 elements and facets. Think back at how Beast Wars and Beast Machines have some elements and facets of Transformers G1.

None of the older generations had the success of G4 so it’s irrelevant what they did before. And they already said the continuity was kept even before the movie was released.

The summaries for the upcoming G5 comics state “And where’s Cloudpuff leading them, anyway? Is this… Canterlot?!” and “The quest to find the missing Unity Crystal has led our Mane 5 to a place they never thought they’d see-Canterlot!” Thus it’s taking place somewhere other than the current location of Zephyr Heights. Where was it stated/shown Canterlot was ZH?

It’s a new setting given all that’s changed, but it is the same world and continuity. What happened to the old is an ongoing mystery. If it should be a separate continuity is another debate.

ikr? G5 is so obviously set in a new world. Those things Argyle said to Sunny are just references. There is no Princess Twilight Sparkle or the Guardians of Harmony. Oh, and btw Hitch is totally a teenager.

what a waste of time

I still don’t think that Zephyr Heights is located in what used to be Canterlot, despite the fact that way too many bronies claim that for some strange reason (give me evidence and I will believe you). I think that Zephyr Heights is in a separate location, a bit farther out from where Canterlot used to be. After all, the comics show the Mane Five discovering Canterlot for the first time, and if Zephyr Heights were on top of Canterlot then it would have been discovered by the Pegasi (with their advanced technology) long ago. Sure, the city of Zephyr Heights has a lot of history to it, but never in the movie is it implied that it is anywhere near the center of Canterlot, so I will for now say that this map is incorrect.
