Nah, this Doctor hadn’t discovered the joys of fish fingers & custard yet.
They’re not Canterlotites. They’re other incarnations of himself.
Look at the cutie marks and outfits / mane styles.
It looks like one half is male and the other female.
He looks over to his side and there’s a bunch of what I assume are Canterlotites, then on her side is Ponyvillians.
Maybe in this animation, they’re from different classes and that’s why it’s sorta taboo?

There was some reason for the long release schedule. Something with a licensing conflict when the artist sold rights to a distribution company after #3 released and the new distributor being pretty adamantly against the artist posting even the old episodes for free, if I remember the story (and my Korean) correctly. Had nothing to do with difficulty.

What characters would you use if you tried parodying There She Is? I don’t think he really had the intention of getting into the full animation just yet anyway.
