Yeah I expected a comic and I got a storybook with word balloons. That doesn’t make it bad, it’s a perfectly acceptable book for kids. I just don’t get why it’s labeled comic.

I just bought this, and it doesn’t really feel like a comic. It’s an extremely simple storybook with occasional word balloons. It’s fine, though the art, particularly faces, tends to be a bit wonky. Sunny at times looks like g3 Scootaloo.

Of course,there are some comics that are really good at expanding the lore and characters from the show,but the ones that focus on world building and villian stuffs are just extremely meh.About Season 10,its just really poorly made from every aspect.They basically made the final issue of the comic to celebrate their anniversary,but instead of doing something interesting and different for once,they just did the exact same thing but in the worse possible way.Go watch the video I linked below if you wanna know the context of it all.

Many would consider the Comics arguably far better than the actual show with a few stinkers here and there; no different than some of the problematic episodes from the series. I saw nothing in season 10 that made it a “disaster”. How did they write themselves into a hole?

Well this is fascinating! Sunny has a piece of rainbow hair on her mane. It quickly made me think of Harry Potter with the lightning bolt scar.

The indications from the movie show that she may have very big trials as the G5 continues, where she has to prove herself to her friends, her ideals and role models, and to the ponykind. For we do not know how the magic disappeared, why everything seems forgotten, why the Everfree is completely gone with all traces of G4 with the exception of these her father found. But the existence of clues in the lighthouse suggests a dark past and a possible arch-enemy who may be the very boss villain of the MLP. So it is likely that Sunny will not only have to re-establish Equestria and return the world back to friendship and harmony, she will have to confront perhaps the worst monsters to complete her destiny.

After all, a whole world must first be discovered before she can call herself the Princess of Hope as a permanent alicorn.

Not surprisingly, Sunny does not have to be an alicorn all the time, and the comic showed us that even if the magic had returned, it is difficult to change the routines of a life without magic, moreover, I think Sunny could not learn magic faster and better than Izzy and the other unicorns like the pegasi. She is simply too strong as when Twilight had the magic of four alicorn in her, and we can experience funny situations where she exaggerates with her magic. So it will be appropriate for Sunny to only have the wings and horn when she needs them, and get used to them as they manifest more firmly with time. She is practically a Tyrannosaur among the small birds, so she had to grow into her life like an alicorn. Her potential as an Earth Pony is too great for her to become a permanent alicorn right away.

They’re probably going to wait until after first season before they do anything with Image Comics, whom I’m assuming is going to be doing it considering they got Transformers.

Wings, horn and a playset home replacement! Sunny sure is going for the Twilight character arc speed record isn’t she.
All she needs now to be made absolute ruler at the end of the first season to completely blow Twilight’s record away.😂

Agnes Garbowska was a major artist on the IDW comic.

No further comics are confirmed for now, despite many people’s ill-informed insistence otherwise (don’t trust anyone if it’s not an official source). Kids books like this one were around for past gens. They’re unrelated to the comics like we saw from IDW.

Welp,after the disaster of the season 10 comics,I’d say theyre in a well deserved grave they dugged themselves in.IDW isnt working on the comics anymore,and they were never decent at it either.Besides,theres far better and well made fan comics from other artists,I’d say do yourself a favour and go explore some.

Oh and speaking of which,the 3d cgi models make these 2d art styles look like creepypastas.People love giving kids ptsd nowadays huh…

I don’t think I like that sort of design all that much, honestly. It just doesn’t look right, frankly. Maybe that is due to the lack of a true background, and the excessive use of pink in that bedding. That, or the shape of the ponies in 2D versus how they appear in the film in 3D. Either way, I just hope that they can draw them in a different style if they make a new comic series.

Speaking of which, does ANYONE know if Hasbro will bring back MLP comics? Because I want MLP comics. I have wanted them ever since they published their last issue of Frienship is Magic, a comic line that I was hoping would continue through G5 so that G4 fans would have something to look at that they would enjoy. Similar to how Hasbro continued G1 Transformers comics despite newer generations of that series being created. Instead, we get a whole lot of nothing in terms of comics, other than this juvenile comic that is being made. It is making this generation feel even more lackluster than G4 was as a result.

One of the first leaks for the G5 movie was a Bedsheet with 2D designs for Sunny, Izzy, and Pipp. The book’s art style is similar to it, hence them saying it used the Bedsheet style.

Um, I have no clue what you are talking about with bedsheets. What does domestic supplies have to do with an MLP comic for young kids?

So they’re going for the “Bedsheets” design for this comic. I don’t mind, actually.

All I hope is that this isn’t the replacement series for the old FiM comics that we got from G4. I really enjoyed those comics, as they went in deep into characters that we otherwise couldn’t get the chance to see in the television series. While this is certainly nice for kids, it certainly is no ‘Friendship is Magic’ comic series replacement in any way.

Fully agreed. The shape of the building and the scenery around it are pretty similar to the (old) lighthouse, so I think this is probably its replacement. I figured it wasn’t damaged beyond repair in the movie and that they’d probably just fix it up, so that’d make it all the more worse if they gave it the full Golden Oaks treatment. Both the lighthouse and Golden Oaks had a lot of character, but I suppose they were both razed in favor of soulless playsets.

Mmm, wondering if that’s building in the back is the rebuilt lighthouse?
Cuz in one of the other pages that says this takes place in Maretime Bay and you can see one page it has decorations with some of the Mane 5 cutie marks on it which could apply this is Sunny’s place.

There’s a part of me hopes it’s not because I kind of like rustic and homie vibe of the old one… How much y’all want to bet this ends up being another Golden Oaks Library exed out for Marketable Playset Castle move on Hasbro part.

So I guess the rainbow mane is permanent, but not the horn & wings. There’s some other preview of a book later in spring that also has the rainbow hair. The horn & wings probably will come out when needed, considering there was a preview of a Sunny toy set with them as accessories.
