Oh if it’s only a minute long it would be fine. Hopefully the main series is still the 3D animation that would come out around the same time.
No, not a minute long, but 5 min. long each.
And actually covering at least 50% of all G5 material this year!
By now there’s a lot of official information known:
Around 500 minutes of G5 pony this year in total.
70 episodes, 5 min. long each, for the 2D series premiering weekly on youtube, beginning in April.
8 episodes, 22 min. long each, for the 3D series (releasing all at once) at Netflix, in September.
And 2 specials, 44 min. long each, 3D and tried to the 3D series and the movie.
The first special is in May and the other one is in November.
All the 3D stuff covers only around 50% of the promised 500 minutes… So we can assume safely that the other half will be covered by the 2D series.
So…
We’ll have to at least give that 2D series a chance. Maybe, while with such animation style, the series itself still could be good in other ways, and it could actually turn out to be an integral part of G5 lore, tightly connected to what we see in the 3D series and specials, and fully canon.
We don’t know for sure, until we see it.
If it turns out to be unimportant to the 3D series, then it would mean we only get half what what we normally got during FiM times (26 episodes per year are around the same 500 minutes of ponies actually).

It’s a minute long Youtube series, of course the animation is going to be cheap looking. I mean, why is this a surprise?
