It is obvious that it is foreshadowing something, but what exactly I don’t know. Who knows, perhaps hasbro will have a whole new cast for the actual series and the movie was just trying to set up “the world” which it really failed at doing. Other than references to G4, we still have no idea if this is set in equestria or not.

Still would like to hear a full version of the score that they used for that and other scenes in the movie. The composer hasn’t kept his website up to date, so I hope the OST has it on it.
