Look, I get super suspicious about “woke” bullshit myself, but there was very little of that in the G5 movie. Hell, the only line I can think of off the top of my head that could be considered “current world politics” is when Izzy told Hitch that his badge, “created an unhealthy power dynamic.” And even then, in the context of that group, she was kind of right, as Hitch was obsessed with arresting Sunny for a long time. Well, that and Sprout having a suspiciously Trump-like mane. Hell, let’s not forget that the plot of this movie, the three tribes distrust each other and they need to overcome their bullshit and work together, was literally the story of the founding of Equestria.
 
TL:DR, overt political slants get shoehorned into a lot of media these days, but this ain’t one of those times.

Let’s get our definitions straight. Neighsay was NOT a racist. He was a speciesist. No one can deny that dragons and griffons and whatever are NOT ponies. Division between the three types of ponies is racism because it is based on ultimately cosmetic differences between what is one, interfertile species. Diversity does not come into it, because at this point we don’t know if there are still yaks and deer and seahorses.

Anyone who gets mad at the new movie for being “political” or “woke” hasn’t paid the slightest of attention to the core message of MLP:FiM.
