Considering the fact that Faust wasn’t around for the majority of G4’s development, I definitely do feel like Hasbro has found another way for the media franchise. Frankly, the fact that they are launching G5 with a movie does suggest that they want to retain the level of creativity found in G4. And that is why I am looking forward to seeing what G5 is like: because they want to continue to be creative.
They are extremely cautious because it’s a brand for girls and IMO because it’s a brand for girls, its success will always be more “niche” unfortunately, the success of G4 took them by surprise IIRC and the fact that their first idea to capitalize on G4 was that ,shall we say, “”“spin-off””” showed us that without the intervention of someone outside of the toy industry (Faust) their visions of media for girls is stuck in cliches from the 80s.Fortunately,maybe the surpise success of G4 showed the creatives that there is another way
I wonder if that means they just don’t care for those shows. I mean, they do know how to market new films and TV shows. We have seen it done with Transformers and GI Joe many times before. So…does Hasbro just think that MLP doesn’t have a lot of potential to draw in viewers, so it is better that they don’t waste money on trailers and toys???
For what it’s worth, i think i read somewhere that Hasbro never made a big advertising fanfare to any Generations of MLP (G4 included) when they started
Um, there still should be a marketing push. All of the Disney+ Original TV shows were released on Disney+, and yet all of them got theatrical-style trailers before their release. So just being ‘released to streaming’ isn’t an excuse to not have a trailer!
That’s not really a leak like “half of season 8 is dumped online by hackers” it’s more their toy release schedule being in conflict with the animated media companion schedule. That and we bronies are nosy enough to search the website of their Chinese partners
Bit it’s no longer being released theatrically, it’s being released on Netflix so there is no need for a large marketing push.
What is odd is that the original MLP Movie had much better marketing than the new one. It had its first teaser in April, with its first full length trailer released in June. There were two trailers released for the film, with the final one being released in September.
Coming September 24, 2021, I believe. Hasbro clearly doesn’t want any leaks… despite there being so many going on right now…
Seriously, I just want a trailer at this point. Where is it???
