27th Mar 2021, 6:00 AM in A Canterlot Wedding, Part 2I didn’t expect to be interrogating the whole gosh-darn premise when I started writing this conversation, but I guess we’re here now!Note: Guest comic submissions are now open! Guidelines here. Current deadline: 4/1/21.
DM: Alright, I’ll bite. How do you make a campaign like a Saturday morning cartoon? And make that an enjoyable D&D campaign?
Princess Cadance: Have you watched many popular cartoon shows lately? They’ve come a long way. Complex lore and storytelling are the norm now. They’ve got stylish action, and yes, whimsy, but also intrigue, cleverness – almost to a fault – slice of life, and plenty of mysteries and problems to solve. And at the end of the day, they’re still cartoons. The good guys win, status quo is positive, and everyone smiles and laughs in the end. A feel-good experience with enough complexity to make you feel like it earned your time. …Sorry, went on kind of a rant there.
DM: …Huh.
