In what world would Twilight feel sympathy for Starlight, a tryant who messed with time for petty revenge? You forget that the show loves to reform villains, including Discord, Sunset, Starlight, and Trixie from memory. Why wouldn’t Twilight want to reform Chrysalis if she plays a sad melody, and why wouldn’t Chrysalis use that to her advantage?
 
You seem to not realize that if Discord is that bad, than she would try to help Chrysalis as well if she is truly not as bad as Discord. Chrysalis would know this, and would try to use that to her advantage. You are giving me more reason to think her story was more true than false when you try to convince me it isn’t.

In what world would Twilight feel sympathy for Chrysalis? In what world would Chrysalis, who has a neurotic hatred for Twilight and Starlight ever think that would ever work?
 
Twilight arguably has as big a grudge as Cadance, that would both be a collosal waste of effort and time, only one of which remotely benefits them in that situation.
 
And considering Discord’s even worse since he tortured people for nothing but laughs how can you with a straight face say she’s rotten to the core and he isn’t when the show itself barely put forth a 1/100 of the effort it did to redeem Chrysalis compared to, as little as he actually is, Discord?

All I said was that it was her version of the story, not the truth. It is more likely to be canon than you claims, though. If she was lying, she would try to make herself more sympathetic since that would cause Twilight some self-conflict since she would see a chance of reformation in Chrysalis, giving her more room to manipulate the princess.
 
And maybe it’s because she isn’t a character that you’re suppose to dive into the backstory of. She’s rotten to the core if what she does and say in the show is anything to go off of, and is always meant to be a villain.

You mean the creature that feeds on love not wanting to work with the species that feeds on it’s polar opposite and is a competitor for food and resources?
 
You mean the supposedly beyond redemption monsters who’s greatest crime after breaking out is standing guard? Not even terrorizing the populace, literally standing guard so the biggest threats to their survival is contained?
 
You mean the species who sent a child in a desperate, last ditch attempt to save themselves, a child who had done nothing wrong but was still tortured yearly by the crystal heart and a frankly brain dead ruler unwillingness to act?
 
Yeah, not like there’s more to that then “them bad, kill”.

When even in context the information isn’t trustworthy and you stamp it with a hard “must be the truth” I question how gullible you’d be in real life.
 
We didn’t get another comic because the writers clearly stated they didn’t care about her as far as backstory is concerned, as such we do not and can not know for a fact if it’s accurate.

Seeing as that comic is all we have, and we have no reason to think that wasn’t Chrysalis other than wanting to make Chrysalis innocent for reasons that goes against the canon, it’s more than likely her version of the story.

If you take all sources they legitimately built a genocidal super weapon that would easily target children just for being a member of that species.
 
People applauded that and acted like making an entire species suffer was ever warranted, what people had a problem with was Sombra’s redemption.
 
Even now you bring them up and everyone says they’re all evil, even the toddlers.
 
On the Changelings even-if everyone wants to say what Chrysalis said was true regardless of the context of the comic, that also means Celestia locked them inside an active volcano to die slow, horrible deaths.
 
Hard to justify that one seeing as she already beat them and had them contained prior.

It literally could all be lies to play into Twilights’ expectations and trick her into being unobservant, which is what it did.

Very little, she was not sympathetic to her enemies and food sources, but there were few moments where she at least had compassion for her subjects. But she had aired the possibility of sending a changeling to death because he was rude to her authority here - and when she fled the volcano, she threw her captain into the magma. We know that she saw the changelings as “theirs” and we have seen signs of maternal instincts, even though there was a long way between them.

The story of Tirek and his father is canon, confirmed by the show and the IDW comics.
 
The story of Cozy Glow is unknown, nothing about her background so it is free to speculate, although she is the most controversial character in MLP`s history.
 
So far we do not know what background the artist has chosen for Chrysalis, but the IDW comics painted a slightly sympathetic picture of the queen who after all had exterminated a pegasi tribe.

Considering Celestia routinely risked her entire nation for a single person and had no plan B, and we have a cannon source where she admits she sits on her tail 90% of the time to try and make them less dependent on her despite providing no knowledge of any incoming threats.
 
She’s not a tyrant but she sure as hell isn’t this godly paragon of good everyone tries to force her to be.
 
And considering how Harmony and the ponies treat entire species they’ve defeated they aren’t perfect either, they have been shown to be as cruel and arrogant as everything else.
 
Stop acting like them being the ones to instigate something because they have their heads up their tails and can’t admit they aren’t following the orders of a god is a bad thing.
 
Lord knows I’d spit in Celestia’s hypocritical face before telling her to rot in a deep dark hole like all the other monsters in the world.

I do often have issues with those, because they’re usually silly and bend over backwards to make Celestia into a tyrant for the sake of doing so. The Tyrant Celestia meme didn’t pop up ouf of thin air, and for that matter, I’m annoyed at demonizing ponies to prop up changelings because it happens so often and tends to lack any sublety. If you never saw that writing trick done in mlp fanfiction, you must not have read much of it.

The comic’s truthfulness of the events relayed is spotty at best considering they were basically keeping the mane six distracted while they bolted for the exit.
 
All of it might just been utter make believe.

So far, the comic has been promising; The story of the relationship between Tirek and his father is as canon as possible, confirmed by both the show and the IDW comics who all could see a demanding and distant father and an attentive son who wanted recognition. We know nothing, nothing at all, about Cozy Glow’s background, even the IDW comics failed to cover the most controversial character in the entire MLP. But the MLP show has given weak indications that dysfunctional family relationships and abuse are not unknown in “the world of harmony”.
 
Chrysalis is something special. When she appeared in the IDW comics, she was like a violent tyrant and murderous villain who did not hesitate to exterminate her opponents and food sources. The show showed very little about her background beyond the clues about the changelings’ birth from a tree in the story of “the Mean Six”. Much of the background story about her is from the IDW comics. But in Season 9, we saw that her fault is that she perceives herself as a monster who can not be saved, and thus shuns friendship even if she had not been a stranger to cooperate with other like-minded people. Her popularity is that she is often the exact opposite of Celestia (who was the intention of the show for the first time) - evil, selfish, tyrannical, short-sighted, impulsive and vengeful, who cares about her people in her own way, like an evil mother for their children.
 
The question here is whether this was before the swarm was unleashed on Timbuctu which was the first victim, and it is not known whether the city of Troy was the next city or the last chapter - or after the flight from the volcano after being trapped by Celestia. The IDW comics suggest that the attack on Timbuctu was the first time the changelings appeared to the rest of the world. If it was after the flight from the volcano, it may mean that Chrysalis was willing to learn from her mistakes and find acceptance if it could be done. But the swarm was like the Mongols of our time, fear and dread made the changelings famous and feared by the ponies, the griffons and other groups. The last two pages of this cartoon may indicate the time after the flight from the volcano.
