I thought it was really depressing that Fluttershy couldn’t make anyone smile, and that it was basically her fault the town was so upset. (though, I suppose Rarity had a lot to do with that too…)

Famous DJs travel a lot for their work, I don’t know why everyone thinks she lives in Canterlot just because she was at a fashion show and a wedding there. Perhaps the mane 6 know her personally and hired her for those occasions.

Nah, Its just that they were already having a pretty bad day, no delicious apples and crappy weather. The no pinkie pie was just the icying on the cake.

I think that would mean that everypony in Ponyville is miserable and Pinkie is the only break they get in their awful lifes, quite depressing.  
They could have made Fluttershy not being able to bake but it would have been less funny, the same happened with Rarity/Rainbow, it was a necessary exaggeration.

Wasn’t her first appearance in Ponyville? It was during Rarity’s fashion show, and I’m pretty sure they didn’t travel all the way to Canterlot just for that.

…It never really occurred to me that Vinyl Scratch probably lives in Canterlot. But her only appearances before now were IN Canterlot, so it should’ve been obvious. Just not something I thought about.
