Glad you find it so, even with all the dramatic changes and circumstances presented by these groups of gals fusing together, I still think with this we are able to flush out components of these “component mares” to work in these fusions. Giving them familiar yet unique mindset’s that can be a fresh take or confirmation on particular thoughts we had about these ponies and their opinions. With those many down to earth mares being thrusted into a state/position of authority and power/responsibility, it only makes sense that for a good while they are heavily reluctant to engage in the morbid aspects of their new charges.

This is fascinating.

Sunset was always FRUSTRATED by the fact that she was never “good enough” to be one of them (while she was educated by Celestia for it, she prefers to get “her hooves on the field” rather than scholar/social work).
 
Even more interesting is the idea that a fusion that includes Rarity would not be considered a “…official bussiness kind of mare”. It sugest that the influence of the “reclusive antisocial” types [Fluttershy & Zecora] override her completely [Starlight Glimmer may be REALLY GOOD at leadership, but she does not actually enjoy that duty].
